Africa Arts Theatre Company celebrates its 10th season with the U.S. premiere of Edufa, by the late Ghanaian playwright Efua T. Sutherland. The play uses both classical and contemporary forms to unfold a tale of love, deceit, and ancient African traditions. Edufa, a wealthy citizen, has asked those who love him to take his place in death, after discovering that the purchase of a Diviner’s charm comes with a Faustian price. When his beloved wife offers to die for him, Edufa desperately attempts to revoke the charm and save her.
