About This Show
Dixon Place is celebrating it’s 14th year in presenting the HOT Festival that includes full length and shorter works in puppetry, burlesque, drag, circus, performance, music, theater, dance, spoken word, and video. Most events take place at Dixon Place, 258 Bowery (btwn. Houston & Prince), unless otherwise noted.
July 6 at 7:30 PM, FREE: HOT! Festival Opening Night Performance and Preview Party! Featuring an intimate performance by John Fleck in COCKaDoodleDANDY: A Weapon of Mass Construction and dozens of 2 minute teaser performances from the festival.
July 7 at 8 PM, $15 door/$12 advance/$10 student or senior: Dance Works-in-Progress, Curated by Kimberly Brandt, and featuring: Kelly Bartnik, Carlos Fittante, and Anne Gadwa.
July 7 at 9:30 PM: Dixon Place at the Marquee, 356 Bowery (Great Jones and East 4th), FREE: Open Performance Night. First 10 people to sign up at 9:00 will perform 10 minutes. Performance, theater, music dance, poetry, fiction…whatever!
July 7 & 21 at 7:30 PM Dixon Place at the Marquee, 356 Bowery (Great Jones and East 4th), $15/$12/$10: The Dixon Place Veteran Series featuring the legendary Reno! Reno does not intend that Shrub be living on Pennsylvania Avenue come 2005. All proceeds directly benefit Dixon Place’s Capital Campaign.
July 8-24, Thursdays-Saturdays, at 8 PM, $15/$12/$10:. 100 Years of Attitude by Susana Cook as part of the Mondo Cane! Commissioning Series. An allegory of worldly crisis that constantly jumps the divide between the surreal and the banal.
July 8 at 10 PM, $15/$12/$10: Isle of Klezbos, music – this band is an all-gal, all-star sextet playing ecstatic traditional and eclectic originals.
July 10 at 10 PM, $15/$12/$10: Vaudevillianaire Scotty the Blue Bunny hosts an evening of queer character talent culled from NYC’s burlesque scene.
July 12 at 7:30 PM, $5: Experiments and Disorders Reading Series: Poetry, fiction, and short plays, curated by Paul Foster Johnson and Sherry Mason with Sally Oswald and Sara Seinberg

Dobkins shows her new work Emergency Exits: a sexy and hilarious tale of alarming realities, runaway fantasies, and the search for escape routes. Shays premieres Naked Femmes on Crutches – the power of sex, cupcakes, paid domination, and Judaism in stilettos. All proceeds directly benefit Dixon Place’s Capital Campaign.
July 15 at 10 PM, $15/$12/$10: Performance Works-in-Progress Danny Zaccagino’s Condemned in the Classroom interviews with gay youth, adults, and teachers concerning their experiences and views about being gay in the American Public School system
July 16 & 17 at 10 PM, $15/$12/$10: Performance Works-in-Progress Brandon Olson’s Thriftstory. With song, movement, and poetry, Olson takes us to his Surreal Dreamscape of the Ultimate Salvation Army. The question is, can he really be saved?
July 19 at 7:30 PM, $15/$12/$10: Performance Works-in-Progress November Door written/directed by David Pratt. An unexpected reunion between a gay man and the older lesbian friend he hasn’t seen since he was a boy. Starring David Pratt and Jane Lincoln Taylor.
July 19 at 10 PM, $15/$12/$10: Performance Works-in-Progress William Croft Vaughn’s They Want Us Dead, We Can’t Stay Here! A 21st century odyssey farce of four unlikely characters searching for welcome in a world of hostility

July 24 at 9 PM, Big Apple Ranch at 39 W 19th Street, $20: Big Apple Ranch Hosts a HOT! Festival Benefit Hoedown. The theme is “The Rhinestone Cowboy”, so kick up your heels to support DP! Free dance lessons at 8 PM.
July 27 at 7:30 PM, $15/$12/$10: Performance Works-in-Progress What Remains of A Rembrandt Torn Into Four Pieces and Flushed Down the Toilet, featuring Stephen Nisbet as Jean Genet, written by Randy Gener, recreates the outlaw spirit and masturbatory narcissism of Jean Genet, one of French literature’s sacred monsters.
July 27 at 9:30 PM, $15/$12/$10: Performance Works-in-Progress Sara Moore’s Hook & Ladder is a raucous, screwball comedy about an all-woman firehouse.
