The Stream
By Jackie Baker and Shelly Stover
Directed by Jackie Baker

Presented during Autism Awareness Month, this piece is an honest and comic confession of a woman striving to find footing in the rough currents of a life touched by autism.

Statements After An Arrest Under the Immorality Act
By Athol Fugard
Directed by Gregory L. Allen
April 28 – May 1, 2007
A black woman. A white man. An illegal affair under apartheid. Will their love be able to survive under such harsh scrutiny? Statements is a hard-hitting account of how the Immorality Act affects the individual. Written in the late ’70s, the story is as relevant now as it was then.

Wendy Saturday: Wide Eyed and Mystified
Created and performed by Valerie Morel
May 2, 2007
Spunky and full of sass, Wendy Saturday is a hip, young British woman living in American “for a spell.” Using original music and stand-up comedy, Wendy challenges you to dig deep and figure out why she views the world the way she does. Wendy is charming, aggressively persuasive and, most importantly, sincere. Her only concern is to make a true human connection with those around her–the audience.

Ophelia: An Opera in Blue
By Sergei Dreznin
Directed by May Adrales
May 5 – 8, 2007
Shakespeare’s tragic heroine comes roaring into her own in Sergei Dreznin’s gutsy reinvention of Hamlet. More than just a daughter, a sister, and a lover, sweet Ophelia refuses to be bound by her place in the lives of men. An imaginative retelling fused with grotesque absurdism, humor, and sweeping virtuosic music, Ophelia: An Opera In Blue tells the famous tale of the danish Prince from her point of view.
