About the Show

The five Mundy sisters lead, by all appearances, exemplary lives in their small cottage in Ballybeg, Ireland, in the 1930s, but, their devotion to each other, and to their brother Jack, a missionary ravaged by his time in Africa, belie their frustrations with their near-monastic life and the conventions of their small town. A memory play, told by the illegitimate son of the youngest sister, Dancing at Lughnasa juxtaposes the dubious achievement of civilization with the freedom of an ancient, and more honest, time.
