About This Show

Copito, by Blake Cass, is loosely based on the true story of Copito de Nieve, the world’s only known albino gorilla. He was found in the Nko Jungle in the province of Rio Muni, Equatorial Guinea – then forced to live his life in the Barcelona Zoo, until he passed away in 2003. The play takes the basic animal instincts felt by the gorilla, and asserts them onto human beings. Through following the human characters down the dark pathways of their lives, Copito explores themes of abandonment, claustrophobia, failure and loss.

Part of the 5th Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival.
