Presented out of chronological order, Call it Peace: The Long Twilight Struggle tells the story of Derek, a journalist for the radical press who goes to Vietnam and encounters more than he bargained for. He witnesses the ravages of war firsthand, experiments with opium, and finds himself falling in love with his interpreter/guide Thomas. Back home, Derek wanders aimlessly until he begins a temporary job helping a soldier’s widow rebuild a church.
