About This Show

Reduxion Theatre Company follows their celebrated inaugural production of Hamlet with the popular cross-dressing comedy As You Like It. The play follows the parallel stories of Rosalind and Orlando, each banished from their homes but comforted by a loyal companion. When they find themselves together in a nearby wood, Rosalind, dressed as a boy, teaches the lovesick Orlando how to truly love a woman. What ensues is an hilarious and heart-felt account of love and relationships in all its forms.

This seminal comedy from Shakespeare explores affection in all its guises: romance, friendship, loyalty and lust. Brothers betrayed, unrequited love, cross-dressing females, country clowns with a little wrestling, and four weddings thrown in to boot! The Forest of Arden affords freedom through disguise and the leisure to pursue the blossom of love.

Director Erin Anderson reflects the aim of Reduxion Theatre Company: respect the text, reduce and remove unnecessary production concepts and have lots of fun! Shakespeare wrote this play to be performed at celebrations, so come and celebrate with Reduxion and hear Shakespeare as it was meant to be heard – without the hype! See the company that OffOffOnline calls “refreshingly vital,” New York Theater Buying Guide gives “Our Highest Recommendation!” and patrons have declared, “First Class!”
