Armchair America: The Recline of Western Civilization

Obie Award-winning Dixon Place, will be the home for ARMCHAIR AMERICA: THE RECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION, the new comedy by the writing team of Tom Bondi & Mark Holt. Created and performed by the writers, this show poses the question, “What evil lies in wait, coiled and ready to strike, within the springs of your favorite chair?” In the manner of a PBS-style documentary, the show depicts an assortment of characters and their armchairs, at the same time it traces the armchair’s arc through history, from the early, crude tripod stool to the modern, deeply-sprung upholstered loungers that dominate so much of society.
