American Family Project recounts, mostly in their own words, the comings of age of an adopted Korean American woman, two Black women of mixed ethnicities, a bi-racial Korean American woman who is the child of divorced parents, and an African-American man raised by his mother. The play interweaves text from transcribed interviews, choreographed movement, soundscapes, and photo stills. Through American Family Project audiences are invited to reflect on the transformation and diversification of family life in the 21st century through the eyes of these five intriguing and real characters.
