About This Show

An unusually candid, funny, non-partisan satirical look at love and patriotism. Fusing stand-up comedy with performance art, mixing political comedy with personal stories of love and loss, Pereira has a style, as director Kristen Williams notes, “…as if Eric Bogosian were doing Spaulding Gray”. The mission of Pereira’s solo work is to encourage audience discussion of socially sensitive, controversial, or otherwise difficult topics through humor and satire, making him the rare solo performer to have a social agenda.

American Cake is presented as part of FRIGID New York.
