About This Show

Lost Tribe Theatre Company presents the New York premiere of A Thread in the Dark by Hella Haasse in a special site-specific production performing on the historic
1907 ferryboat, Yankee Ferry. The play re-examines the Greek myth of the Minotaur. Ariadne, daughter of King Minos, discovers that the monster thought to threaten the
people of Crete is actually a fabrication invented by her father to keep both his enemies and his own people cowed by fear. Ariadne is determined to reveal the truth, but is challenged by her family and Theseus, the hero credited
with slaying the beast. Decked out in drop dead evening gowns Ariadne and her sister Phaedra flee from Crete to Athens making one fateful stop on the isle of Naxos. Underscored by an edgy, live band, this play transports the
audience to each of its evocative settings on and around the docked Yankee Ferry. Heather Ondersma directs.
