About This Show

The story of A Brooklyn Nutcracker unfolds as Clara and her mother are out shopping for the holidays at Macy’s in Downtown Brooklyn. Clara soon becomes enchanted by a nutcracker doll and is swept out onto Fulton Street by a crowd of holiday shoppers. While her mother looks frantically for her daughter, Clara wanders and plays with her new toy. She takes refuge from the crowd in the subway and begins to dream. In her reverie Clara fights the Rat Queen and her pack of Subway Rats, and escapes over the roofs of Park Slope to the Prospect Park Skating Rink. She visits Coney Island for a lively carousel ride, and dancers greet her from the Russian, Chinese, Arabian, and Spanish neighborhoods of Brooklyn. Eventually, she arrives at a dark forest in Prospect Park where, to great celebration, she is finally reunited with her mother.
