About This Show

The Manhattan International students are back! For the 3rd consecutive year, students from SA’s partnership school will perform alongside the professional ensemble in a night of Ancient Greek inspired improvisation! A perennial favorite, SA audiences always love this show.

Strike Anywhere’s partner school, Manhattan International High School (M.I.H.S.), serves newly arrived immigrant students. Each year, SA collaborates with English teacher Celeste Micelotta to serve three 9th grade classes through a full-year residency that integrates theater into the English classroom. M.I.H.S. believes SA’s hands-on, ensemble approach is an effective way of bolstering language skills for first-year students and orients them to the collaborative, performance-based philosophy of the school. Artistic Director/Teaching Artist Leese Walker has taught at M.I.H.S. as a visiting teaching artist since 2000 working with five teachers over the years. In 2006, Strike Anywhere officially created a partnership with the school to provide incoming freshman with experiential learning techniques during a full year residency in their English classroom.
