About This Show

A biography of the phone and a haunting meditation on the nature of the disembodied voice, Telephone operates like a switchboard connecting places and people across time and space. Watson and Bell, Miss St. (Jung’s notorious schizophrenic who thought she had a telephone inside her), and an assortment of 21st lovers on cell phones form a delicate and ferociously poetic work that asks what it means to “take the call” not knowing what or who will be on the other end.
