Woodie King Jr. directs the American premiere of Barrie Keeffe’s controversial drama Sus. The title comes from the British police’s slang word for suspicion. The play is set on election night in Great Britain. Margaret Thatcher is about to usher in a new era of conservatism. In an interview room of a London police station, two white cops interrogate a poor black man who is held on suspicion of murder. The victim is the black male’s wife, who had been found dead in their bedroom in a pool of blood.
There is no performance on Tuesday, June 5.
