The story follows a Cockney flower girl who is trained by a bachelor linguistics expert to speak proper English in six months' time as part of a daring challenge. The original 1956 Broadway production of the musical starred Rex Harrison, Julie Andrews, and Stanley Holloway. It has had three Broadway revivals, in 1976, 1981, and 1993.
