Jazz Tap Ensemble, known for its originality and artistic collaborations, hits a high note with jazz vocalist Kate McGarry (“Mercy Streets”) when she joins the Ensemble dancers and musicians for a week of exuberant tap dance, brilliant jazz music and vibrant song. JTE Artistic Director Lynn Dally once again displays her choreographic genius, applying McGarry’s vocal jazz interpretations to the dancers’ tap improvisations and the moving, original compositions of Music Director Jerry Kalaf (“Just Like Old Times”).

Highlights of this holiday program include: the popular “Groove” by the company’s mentor Gregory Hines; the New York Premiere of “Fragile” with music by Sting; the New York Premiere of “How My Heart Sings” with music by Earl Vindars, and choreography & performance by Josette Wiggan; the New York Premiere of “Footprints” with music by Wayne Shorter, and choreography & performance by Joseph Wiggan — who recently received the 2005 Princess Grace Award; the New York Premiere of “Delilah” with music by Victor Young, and choreography & performance by Ayodele Casel and, the New York Premiere of “Twice as Nice” choreography & performance by Channing Cook Holmes & Joseph Wiggan.
