About This Show

Sometimes called a revolutionary with a sense of humor, David Dorfman, athlete- turned-choreographer who also offers a contemplative look at the world, brings his troupe of four dancers to New York City. One highlight is the premiere of “New Traditions: An Older Testament,” set to an original score by Frank London of The Klezmatics. The work questions what it means to be a Jew in today’s world. Also planned is last year’s hit, “Lightbulb Theory,” a meditation on death in which the dancers ask: “Is a light bubl betther if it flickers out or suddenly goes dark?” A new dance is also in the works. And for the numerically minded: The engagement closes the company’s 20th anniversary year, while marking its first performance at The Joyce in seven years.
