About This Show

Born in Africa and brought up in America, hip hop has become the universal language of the new generation. New York’s hometown hip hop artist, Haitian-born Wyclef Jean, explores the roots and international path of his music when he shares the stage with opening act Daara J, Senegal’s hip hop homeboys. Wyclef Jean’s career exploded with the groundbreaking Fugees, and with his multi-platinum solo career he has become hip hop’s conscience. Daara J is the 2004 recipient of the BBC Radio World Music Award for ‘Best African Act.’ Wyclef Jean and Daara J, both known for a multi-genre approach to music with a rising voice, exhibit the power, freshness and urgency of this resonant art form.
