In celebration of the bicentennial of Nathanial Hawthorne’s birth (1804), PASSAJJ Productions, Ltd. is presenting a new production of A for Adultery, a musical adaptation of Hawthorne’s masterpiece, The Scarlet Letter. The musical adaptation is by Paul Dick (adaptation, music and lyrics). The musical, faithful to the novel, is set in Puritan Boston. It tells the story of Hester Prynne, a lovely young woman who has given birth to an illegitimate daughter, fathered by a young Puritan minister, Reverend Dimmesdale who is tormented by his adulterous act. Hester’s elderly husband, Roger Chillingworth, returns from a prolonged absence and learns of Hester’s adulterous affair. Chillingworth vows revenge.
