Three-time Tony-winner Audra McDonald hosts Musical Theatre Works Live in Concert, a gala benefit evening. The concert launches MTW’s new Resident Writers Program, created to support the best and brightest young composers and lyricists writing for the musical theater world today. It also honors Celso Gonzalez-Falla and Sandra Gilman, who have provided extraordinary support to emerging creative talents in the musical theater through their Gilman & Gonzalez-Falla Theatre Foundation. The concert is directed by Daisy Prince, with musical direction by Eric Stern.
Broadway stars Betty Buckley, Peter Gallagher, Neil Patrick Harris, Andrea McArdle, Audra McDonald, Jessica Molaskey, Billy Porter, and Sherie Rene Scott are some of the top talents who perform songs from various works-in-progress by MTW’s inaugral Resident Writers: Jason Robert Brown, John Bucchino, Kirsten Childs, Zina Goldrich and Marcy Heisler, Ricky Ian Gordon, Adam Guettel, Michael John LaChiusa, Andrew Lippa, Glenn Slater, Grant Sturiale, and Jeanine Tesori.
