Monica Bill Barnes & Co. and nicholasleichterdance
perform as part of the series Thalia Dance: Gender Benders.
Performing to enthusiastic crowds in contemporary venues both nationally and abroad, Nicholas Leichter’s company, nicholasleichterdance, is known for pieces filled with provocative pairings. Whether exploring race and gender, the relationship between two dancers or between street and traditional dance styles, the movements consistently evoke a cultivated culture clash. The company is committed to expanding the performance experience through master classes, workshops, residencies, lecture demonstrations, talk-backs, and open rehearsals. These activities incorporate an extensive repertory of modern dance techniques, improvisation, and information about the creative process.
