With her classically trained lyric soprano voice and her unbridled enthusiasm, Moira Danis has fashioned a string of unique, tuneful cabaret shows over the past few years – exploring the joys of youth in First Childhood and the varied facets and delights of Latin music in Double Rainbow. I Wish It So, her last show, served as the basis for her well-received debut CD, I Wish. These efforts prompted one critic to write that Moira provided “an hour of cozy comfort, charming tunes and fine vocals.”
Now, Moira presents Beautiful Sounds, a loving tribute to the remarkable career of Petula Clark that touches on all aspects of her art, from the recording studio to television to Hollywood and to the stage, and includes both well-known and rare songs. Working with a brilliant musical director in Wells Hanley, Moira makes the songs her own as she celebrates Clark’s many accomplishments. Gerry Geddes directs, with Rubin Kodheli (cello) and Brian Griffin (percussion).
