About This Show

Joan Miller’s Dance Players celebrates its 35th Anniversary season with two performances at the Citigroup Theater at the Joan Weill Center for Dance located at the new home of Ailey Studios. Three satirical and serious works will be featured, highlighting Miller’s unique treatment of choreographic, visual, and verbal mixes.

The company will perform works which span its 35 year history, including the premiere of The Gender Hues, and an expanded version of last year’s mixed-media piece,When Pigments Fly, which celebrates the life and work of visual artist Herbert Gentry. The ever popular Boots, Back Talk and Beyond and works by guest choreographers Eleo Pomare and Martial Roumain complete the program.

Joan Miller’s Dance Players is a unique, multi-ethnic, street smart, mixed-media company with a zany sense of humor, a slightly offbeat point of view and an eclectic sense of dance-theatre.
