Lynne Halliday: Torched

In her all new show, Torched, directed by Michael Schiralli, Ms. Halliday will explore more than one conception of what being "torched" is all about through songs by composers as diverse as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stephen Sondheim and Peggy Lee. She cleverly taps several emotional depths and vantage points from the funny to the poignant to the sublime in this intelligent, innovative and seductive act that will appeal to all audiences.

Lynne Halliday was born and raised in Montreal, but fell in love with New York and the theater thanks to her beloved and rather fabulous Manhattan-based grandmother, Luba, who would take her to a Broadway show every year on her annual birthday visit to the city.

Miss Halliday starred in the York Theater’s hit show "Porterphiles"- a revue of unpublished Cole Porter songs. She also appeared as "The Voice" in American Ballet Theater’s world-premiere ballet, "Weren’t We Fools?" which was choreographed by Christian Holder. Lynne’s role was as Mimi the French Maid in "Pied-a-Terre", was directed by the late Tony-award winner Thommie Walsh, at Eighty Eight’s in Greenwich Village. Mr Walsh also directed her last cabaret appearance last year at Danny’s Skylight Room. She has also appeared in the American premiere of Charles Strouse’s "A Whole Lotta Living" (directed by Barbara Siman), and the award-winning "Women@Work" as well as the off- Broadway hit revival of "The Rothschilds."
