About This Show

The Trevor Project hosts its 4th annual New York City benefit. For the first time this year, Co-Founder James Lecesne will perform the piece that was the inspiration for the 1994 Academy Award-winning short film, Trevor, after which The Trevor Project is named.

Through this film a very serious and often tragic topic is handled with compassion and also a little comedy. Trevor is told through a series of diary entries, following 13-year-old Trevor, a passionate Diana Ross fan who strives for attention from his parents by frequently faking suicides–to no avail. When he reveals his homosexuality to his best friend, not realizing anything is unusual about his feelings, his friend turns on him and word spreads at school that Trevor is gay. Shortly thereafter, a confused Trevor is ostracized by all of his friends and in his ensuing pain, he goes to such lengths as to give himself electric shocks to reverse his apparent homosexuality, runs away from home, and ultimately makes a real suicide attempt.

This year’s celebrity participants include: Carson Kressley, Lypsinka, Lea DeLaria, Jim David, James Lecesne, Rick Trabucco, Reno with more to come.
