About This Show

A cross between Weird Al, Big Gay Al, and Al Jarreau, Ben Lerman is a gay singer-songwriter, comedian, writer, and videographer, originally from South Bend, Indiana. He moved to New York in 1998, landing in the welcoming bosom of the city’s insane restaurant industry, which soon turned on him. Fortunately, he had a back up plan: gay comedy rock stardom! That worked out for a while, with a band called the Isotoners, for which he wrote, played keyboards and bass, and sang. For three years the Isotoners played around New York, honing themselves musically and satirically to the point where the Village Voice put them on the cover of their “Best of New York 2004” music section with a full-page photo. But not even a gig at the CMJ festival could keep the band together in the end, so Ben learned to play the ukulele and ventured out on his own. He’s been playing solo gigs since 2006.
