It is now nearly 20 years since Ladysmith Black Mambazo acquired superstar status in the West, courtesy of Paul Simon’s Graceland album. During that time, the singers’ skills have deepened and matured, transmitted through immaculately dovetailed harmonies in dozens of award-winning recordings and thousands of riveting concerts. Brooklyn Center welcomes South Africa’s cultural emissary, which has revolutionized choral-group singing and almost single-handedly brought the music of a whole people to the world.
