Tony-award winning actress, LaChanze, best known for her incredible star turns both on and off Broadway in shows such as The Color Purple, Ragtime, Company, Once On This Island, Uptown it’s Hot!, The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds her Chameleon Skin and The Vagina Monologues will make her debut performance at the Highline Ballroom for a special, one night only Valentine’s Day engagement. On February 14th, LaChanze will bring her tremendous talents to Highline’s intimate stage where she will perform a soulful cabaret of love songs filled with old favorites and original tunes.

In addition to lighting up the Broadway stage, LaChanze film credits include the upcoming film “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and “Breaking Upwards.” LaChanze has also been featured in “My New Gun”; “For Love or Money”; “Leap of Faith”; “Heartbreak Hospital” and Disney’s animated feature “Hercules.” LaChanze’s television credits began with recurring roles on The Cosby Show and The Cosby Mysteries. In addition, she was a guest lead on Law And Order SVU; Sex and the City; New York Undercover and the Gregory Hines Show. She has also performed on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly and The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet amongst many others. LaChanze can be heard on several Broadway recordings, and is currently working on her debut CD. On March 5th, 2009, LaChanze will return to the stage when she stars in the highly anticipated off-Broadway show Inked Baby at Playwright Horizons.
