About the Show

From Russia with Mozart, the American Symphony Orchestra’s Lincoln Center season finale will give New York opera fans two rare listening opportunities in a single concert: both Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Mozart and Salieri and Alexander Dargomizhsky’s The Stone Guest — the latter based on the same story as Mozart’s Don Giovanni — will be performed in Russian.
Russia’s greatest poet, Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837) is an additional honoree here: both operas were based on his works — as were many other Russian operas (Boris Godunov, Eugene Onegin, Le coq d’or, Pique Dame, Ruslan and Lyudmila, Tsar Sultan, etc.).
