About This Show

Godfrey Townsend is currently Guitarist & Vocalist for the Alan Parsons Project. He was previously with The John Entwistle Band, Jack Bruce & Todd Rundgren’s “Abbey Road” Band. He leads a stellar line-up of players paying tribute to Slowhand honoring his 64th birthday.

After hearing Godfrey jamming on some Cream tunes in a club one night, Eric Clapton’s guitar technician, Lee Dickson commented to John Entwistle, “This guy’s got Clapton down better than Clapton!”

What made Clapton unique? Rather than simply replicate the blues riffs he’d heard on record, Clapton incorporated the emotion of the original performances into his own style of playing, thus expanding the vocabulary of blues guitar. The only triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of both The Yardbirds and Cream and as a solo artist), Eric Clapton continues to astonish and delight a vast spectrum of music lovers.
