About This Show

Diamonds and Rust revisits the cultural climate of the 1970’s through the voices of ten talented women whose songs both reflected and inspired a generation. Lucille celebrates the work of Joni Mitchell, Phoebe Snow, Carole King, Laura Nyro, Joan Baez, Carly Simon, Janis Ian, Melissa Manchester, Melanie Safka and Dory Previn – women whose words and music explored the huge societal shifts associated with the civil rights, women’s liberation, and anti-war movements. Their songs challenge, soothe, and entertain us, all the while illuminating an emotional history of America during an era that changed our culture and the way we viewed the world.

Diamonds and Rust was selected as one of Cabaret Hotline Online’s Favorite Shows of 2011!

“…the most exciting, thrilling show seen this year…This show was not just her finest one to date – it was one that made my heart leap with joy. To see all the pieces put together with such perfection – and such self confidence and professionalism – reminded me all over again why I love this art form so much!” – Stu Hamstra, Cabaret Hotline Online
