Desperately Seeking Thaïs

About the Show

L’Opéra Français de New York, in collaboration with the French Institute Alliance Française, presents Desperately Seeking Thaïs, a multi-media exploration of the story of Thaïs.

A highlight of this program is a screening of the rare 1917 silent film Thaïs, directed by Frank Crane, that featured the legendary opera star Mary Garden in the title role. Nimet Habachy of WQXR-fm reads excerpts from the novel by Anatole France, and selections from the Massenet opera are performed by soprano Caroline Worra, baritone Stephen Powell, pianist Donald Sosin, and violinist William Harvey. This program was conceived by Jean-Philippe Clarac and Oliver Deloeuil, co-artistic directors of L’OFNY.

Box Office hours are 11am to 7pm Tuesday, noon to 7pm Wednesday through Friday, and noon to 4pm Saturday.
