About This Show

This Asian/American singer/songwriter, born in Chicago and currently living in New York, began her musical career as a young child and delivered an award-winning performance at the age of six with a rendition of "Are You Sleeping?" in Mandarin Chinese. In college, Cynthia Lin developed her own vocal freedom, inspired by the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Joni Mitchell with pop songs that are bittersweet, poetic and emotionally complex. Now as a solo acoustic guitarist with a unique blend of jazz and folk, she has developed a loyal fan base. Adam Simkin of EntertainmentDC.com says, “Lin’s music stylings hint at past greats, yet sound fresh with a distinct charm.” Since the release of her debut EP "Blue and Borderlined", Cynthia has become a regular on the regional touring circuit, performing at respected venues including DC’s IOTA Club, Philly’s World Cafe Live, New York’s Rockwood Music Hall, and Chicago’s Uncommon Ground. Cynthia has supported major acts including Vienna Teng and Emm Gryner, and was featured on NPR’s Open Mic series. Her second EP "Doppelganger" was released in 2007.
