Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker," the story of a young girl's journey to a magical land on Christmas Eve, is perhaps not only the composer's most famous work but also one of the most famous ballets of all time. "The Nutcracker" is often performed during the Christmas season due to its content, and many families make it an annual tradition to attend a performance.

C&K Dance Theater has been performing dance stories at Shawnee Playhouse since 2013. Their stories are a combination of storytelling, dance and music and are fun for all ages.

This adaptation is a children's version, a truly lovely introduction to both ballet and a wonderful holiday tradition.

The story of The Nutcracker is loosely based on the E.T.A. Hoffmann fantasy story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, about a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King.
