About This Show

The Chamber Music Society’s Artistic Directors, David Finckel and Wu Han, present their debut season of programming. The season features a vibrant collection of works, many new to CMS audiences, demonstrating chamber music’s many styles, textures, moods, and personalities. Special programs emphasize Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy, the Baroque era, and composers of the twentieth century English musical Renaissance, while three extraordinary composers of our time — Leon Kirchner, Nicholas Maw, and Bright Sheng — come into focus as well. The scope of the season encompasses thirty-three concerts in Alice Tully Hall, six Rose Studio Concerts, three concerts of music by living composers, four Family Concerts, school programs, a teen concert series, master classes, educational series, and lectures.
