Along with Allee Willis and Stephen Bray, Brenda co-wrote the music and lyrics for Broadway’s Tony Award-winning The Color Purple. Earlier this year, Brenda and her co-authors were also nominated as songwriters for a Grammy in the Best Musical Show Album category for the original cast recording.
