About This Show

Café Carlyle announces the return engagement of Tony Award-winner Betty Buckley in her new show Portraits, an engagingly eclectic evening of music by American composers – both new and old – whom Ms. Buckley says “reflect the American spirit and whose work deserves to be included in the Great American Songbook.” Her program includes works by such established names as Billy Joel, Paul Simon and Mary Chapin Carpenter to the lesser known Ricky Ian Gordon and Adam Guettel. Ms. Buckley also offers “Why Did I Choose You?,” from the Broadway musical The Yearling, “If I Never Knew You,” the Oscar-winning love theme by Stephen Schwartz & Alan Menken from the Disney animated film Pocahontas and Leslie Bricusse¹s “When I Look In Your Eyes,” as well as two songs from the current Academy Award-nominated film Cold Mountain.
