On December 26, 2003, an earthquake hit the desert town of Bam, in Southern Iran, leaving more than 30,000 dead with tens of thousands homeless and almost all of the 2,000-year-old historic sections of the city destroyed. The people in Bam are in desperate need of support to rebuild their city and their lives.
Several celebrated Iranian performers have joined together for the Bam Victims Fundraising Event, a benefit concert at St. John the Divine Cathedral in New York. Many prominent visual artists have also donated their work, which will be displayed the night of the event and will go on an online auction for a week after the night of the event.
