About This Show

Attention Screen is a quartet consisting of four composers / instrumentalists who create unique, spontaneous compositions that integrate jazz, classical, rock and world music vocabularies into flowing musical explorations. The band’s compositions explore the blending of acoustic and electronic textures and it’s not unusual to hear the influences of Marilyn Crispell, George Crumb, Bernard Hermann, Sonny Sharrock, Miles Davis, and Sonic Youth within a single performance. On February 10, the group is recording a CD for stereophile records during their performance at Merkin Concert Hall. Concert attendees receive a 1/3 discount on Attention Screen’s CD when released and also get to participate in a question and answer session by Stereophile Records’ John Atkinson during the concert intermission, wherein he will discuss his audiophile recording techniques.
