About This Show

The Oberon Theatre Ensemble presents …And They Were Lovers, a medley of Shakespeare’s characters in Central Park. Lead by the narrator Richard Burbage, an ensemble of players presents several of Shakespeare’s well-known characters and their many shades of love. This 45-minute medley, which includes scenes from seven of Shakespeare’s plays, begins with the innocent love of Romeo and Juliet, progresses to the unconventional courtship of Kate and Petruchio and Beatrice and Benedick’s denial of love, and ends with the jealousy of Othello and the grief of Lady Anne.

…And They Were Lovers has been produced in Boston, Las Vegas, and Stratford, England. This is the show’s New York premiere. Adapted from Shakespeare by Thomas Marcello.
