The recent shooting spree that paralyzed the Washington D.C. — Beltway area left a shocked nation with one question – “Why?” Throughout Phoenix Productions’ Sniper, playwright Dr. Bonnie Culver explores the motivation behind such inexplicable killings by examining the case of an intelligent and seemingly upright teenage boy who brought a rifle to a rooftop and randomly took the lives of innocent people in his hometown in a matter of moments. Based on actual events during the 1970’s, this complex original play explores the aftermath of the tragedy that took place in a small town in upstate New York.
