La Cage Aux Folles

Based on the French film, La Cage Aux Folles tells the story of middle-aged partners Georges and Albin, who live a contented life as owner and featured performer, respectively, of a drag night club in St. Tropez. Chaos ensues when Georges’ son, Jean-Michel, announces his engagement to Anne, the daughter of a local politician who is waging a campaign to “clean up” the St. Tropez night life scene — especially drag clubs like La Cage!

The original Broadway production received six Tony Awards, including Best Musical; the 2005 revival received two Tonys. A 1996 hit film, The Birdcage, featured Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
