The Odd Couple, written by Neil Simon in 1966, won three Tony Awards on Broadway and was remade into a successful film and TV series. However, few remember Simon’s female version of the play written in 1985 which is based on the same story line and same lead characters … with a few twists! Corpus Christi Community Theatre presents BOTH male and female versions of the play. The plot of both scripts revolves around two mismatched wise-cracking friends, separated from their spouses, who decide to share an apartment. Big mistake. One’s a slob or epic proportions and the other is compulsively neat. In both plays, despite the bickering and underneath the dust, there is a recognizable truth … good friendships endure both minor irritations and major conflicts.
