It’s Christmas 1183 and Henry II of England joins his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, their children and guests at their castle in Chinon, France. Personal and political conflicts develop, and during the heat of a family squabble, Eleanor bellows, “It’s 1183 and we’re barbarians.”
