The Difficulty of Crossing a Field

The Difficulty of Crossing A Field is a new chamber opera. David Lang composed the music and Mac Wellman wrote the libretto. Bob McGrath is the director, joined by his colleagues at Ridge Theater. Acclaimed music director, Alan Johnson rounds out this accomplished team of artists. The cast of twelve is headed by noted actor, Jay O. Sanders. The opera is based on a haunting, one page story by Ambrose Bierce about the mysterious disappearance of a slave-owning plantation owner as he crosses a field in Selma, Alabama in 1854.
