Pink Thunderbird

About the Show

Pink Thunderbird is a compilation of James McLure’s two companion one acts, Laundry and Bourbon and Lone Star.

Laundry and Bourbon

Laundry and Bourbon centers around the discontent and very funny banter of three small-town wives, whose marriages have turned out to be less than was hoped for. Elizabeth, wife of a returned Vietnam vet, confides in Hattie her best friend from high school when life seemed to be all planned out for them. While anticipating the sunset and the return of her husband they enjoy early evening cocktails and memorable stories, only to be interrupted by the local gossip, Amy Lee, who brings news from the town about Elizabeth’s husband.

Lone Star

Presented initially by the Actors Theatre of Louisville, and then produced successfully on Broadway, this hilarious study of a pair of Texas “good ole boys” on a Saturday night carouse introduced an exciting new playwright of major potential. Join Roy and his brother Ray as they spend a late summer night looking at the stars and talking about the lost days before the war in Vietnam. The only thing precious to those memories is Roy’s 1959 pink Thunderbird convertible and what it represents to his manhood. Despite that car’s dilapidated state it still carries nostalgic weight, not only to Roy, but also the other men in Maynard like Skeeter Fullernoy who runs the local store and has always looked up to Roy and his car.
