About the Show

1776 follows the historical accounts of what happened in Philadelphia in May, June and July, 1776. We all know that the Declaration of Independence was drafted and signed, but the show provides us with the rest of the story. Composed by Sherman Edwards with book by Peter Stone, 1776 won five Tony Awards in 1969 and was revived on Broadway in 1997. Full of large musical numbers like “Sit Down, John” and “Cool, Cool Considerate Men” as well as the playful and boyant “He Plays the Violin,” this musical is sure to please! -jam
