Big Daddy’s dying in his Mississippi mansion, but he won’t admit it. What will happen to the riches he’s amassed? His handsome youngest son, Brick, might inherit the plantation, but Brick just lays around … like a brick. Brick’s beautiful wife, Maggie, nicknamed the Cat, does what she can to motivate the men of the family. The play won the 1955 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and prompted the famous film with Elizabeth Taylor in a slip and Paul Newman in pajamas. The Festival’s production will be an ironic take on desire in the face of death from the company and director, Mitchell Polonsky, who made a big splash at the 2021 Festival with Mae West’s Sex.
