About the Show

As part of its commitment to offer year-round artistic
programming to Nantucket residents, The White Heron Theatre Company is hosting a reading
from the new memoir Fortunate One: From Nantucket to the White House by former Nantucket
journalist Gary Holmes.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Mr. Holmes, a thirteen-generation Nantucket native, was a reporter for The Inquirer and Mirror and the island’s community television station, then called Channel 3, in the late 1970s. The memoir describes the first half of his life – from his birth at the old Nantucket Cottage Hospital on West Chester Street, through his very early childhood on the island, his experiences as a local Nantucket reporter during a period of rapid transformation, and his move to Washington, DC, in the 1980s, where he worked as a Congressional press secretary and an aide in the Reagan White House.

Mask are required inside the theatre as well as proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Read the details in our "on stage" section at www.whiteherontheatre.org/on-stage.
